YARN, GAUGE AND MACHINE
Sizes finish to 44, 50, 56” not including the 6” over-lap built into the pattern. If a smaller person wears the robe, the overlap will increase. Bebe by Tamm gauge is 27 stitches/38 rows/4” on the standard gauge machine at stitch size 8-9 or the Passap at stitch size 6-8.Some mid-gauge machines can knit some of the sizes at a smaller stitch size. The limitation is the number of needles so dividing the back in half and knitting the bands in sections will make it possible on all mid-gauges. Please check gauge care-
fully. Row gauge tends to vary from color to color in this yarn. To knit this on a bulky, an alternate gauge is given of 4 stitches/6 rows per
inch. Lots of inexpensive worsted weight #4 yarns can achieve this at a medium size on the stitch dial for bulkies and a larger size on mid-gauge machines. Bulky numbers appear
in brackets like these { }
NOTES
The sample is knitted with wide stripes alternating 2 colors of Bebe. At the lower edge the pattern shown is 16 rows color 1, 4 rows color 2. After 4 repeats, it changes to 20 rows color 1, 4 rows color 2. A third color is used as trimming for the bands and belt. 2 cones of yarn are needed for all sizes even if the robe is made in a solid color.
