Inspired by the set up of a bee hive and the need to leave space for bees to move between the frames of comb. Cable stitches form the honey comb with purl columns between making up the bee space.

Yarn: 50 (50, 60)g DK yarn, 225m/100g.
Shown in: A Little Bit Sheepish British Bluefaced Leicester double knit in “Ceres”; 100% wool; 225m/100g.

Needles: 4.0 mm circular needle for working in the round, 40 cm length suggested.
4.0 mm circular needle or double pointed needles for working in the round on a small circumference, 80 cm length suggested.

Notions: Tapestry needle, stitch markers, cable needle (optional).

Skills: Cast on, working in the round, knit, purl, cabling, decreasing stitches, weaving in ends.

Sizing: Pattern gives stitch counts for small (medium, large) adult head size, approximately equivalent to a head circumference of 50 (53, 56) cm.
