Join us for the 2nd annual 4 Day Sweater KAL! Last year’s Stillwater cardigan was so much fun that we’re back at it again with this year’s brand new contender: The Beekeeper Cardigan! Read all about the KAL here.

Please be sure you update your pattern to the final file (it’s called: Beekeeper Cardigan_Marie Greene_finale). The incorrect file had been loaded initially, resulting in errata. In order to have the best possible knitting experience, please be sure you have updated your copy. You can also review the errata here.

DK|Knitted Wit| Polwarth Shimmer|85% polwarth wool, 15% silk | 330 yards in 115g |950 (1010, 1100, 1200, 1296, 1455, 1630, 1850) yards/869 (924, 1006, 1097, 1185, 1330, 1490, 1692) meters

3-4 in/7.5-10cm positive ease included for a comfortable/relaxed fit

Key Dates: The KAL begins July 1st and runs through July 15th with a sliding timeline for different sizes (up to 8 days). Pick and choose your days (they don’t have to be consecutive). You can also participate on your own time, or even create your KAL group to try the challenge on your own. BUT if you love the friendship and energy of doing it with a group, you are invited to join my cheerful, highly engaged FB group where we will have all kinds of fun, help and prizes along the way.

PLEASE NOTE: The wacky timeline is just for fun. If you want to challenge yourself to it, cool. If you just want to join in on the fun and do it at your own pace, that’s cool too! There is NO pressure to push yourself faster than you want to. The 4 Day KAL idea was born last year out of a need to get a sample knit over a long weekend, and other knitters asked for a KAL to try it, too. What’s grown from there is a wonderful, friendly community of knitters who have a great time knitting together and love a little challenge. But it’s all about the joy and less about the timeline, so have fun and make it work for you. As long as you cast on with us and give it your best shot, that’s all that counts.

Sizes: 32 (34, 36, 38, 40, 44, 48, 52)“ Bust
3-4 inches positive ease included for a comfortable fit (This means the ease is already factored into the size for you.)

Description: The cardigan has simple, all-over texture. No lace, no cables. Top-down, seamless construction. 3/4 sleeves with an option for long sleeves. I’ve assigned the skill level “intermediate” but truthfully- confident advanced beginners should be able to knit this if you know how to read a pattern and understand top-down sweater knitting.

The best thing about the 4 Day Sweater is that it doesn’t LOOK like a sweater you could knit in 4 days.

Your purchase includes two files and includes the following:

  • A KAL resource file with links to all of last year’s helpful tips on prepping for a super fast sweater KAL
  • Gauge and swatching information, including the stitch pattern for the sweater that will allow you to measure gauge accurately.
  • All the information and resources you will need to participate in the KAL via my Knitters’ Lounge on Facebook, or on Instagram
  • Yarn ideas The pattern!

If you are participating, please be sure to set up your project page using the tags: #4daykal2018 #beekeepercardigan #4daykal and #oliveknits so we can find you, and if you share on social media, please use these hashtags as well.

July 1st-15th KAL begins on Instagram and in the Facebook group.

What happens if I don’t finish in 4 days?
No worries! The challenge is fun - and doing it with friends is even better - but really this project is about the experience. We have so much fun encouraging each other, cheering everyone along and sharing our successes (and pitfalls) along the way. Whether you finish in 4 days or 4 weeks (or 4 months!) - you’ll love the camaraderie and friendship of knitting with friends. Plus, this is a classic style sweater (that happens to be fun and quick to knit), and it’s one you’ll love wearing for years to come.
