BeesBeesBees Cowl
BeeBeesBees is a modular cowl design for handspun yarn!
It’s made of satisfyingly texture-rich hexagon shapes, which are great for showing off the color effects of a quick gradient or self-striping yarn.
The sample is shown in Malabrigo Yarns Nube in colorway Mostaza. This merino wool top was spun and chain-plied to a DK weight with just a little thick-and-thin to it.
If you don’t spin (and aren’t sensitive to mohair), Noro Silk Garden Sock or Lite could be a good substitution for the handspun yarn here. It will at least have a similar color effect.
(I would not recommend a slick superwash wool for this project.)
Materials:
- 4 oz Malabrigo Yarn Nube merino top spun into ~350 yards of DK-ish handspun (shown in colorway Mostaza)
- 1 set of 5 DPNs in US7/4.5mm, or size needed for gauge
- removable stitch markers, if needed
- tapestry needle
Gauge:
These samples are both worked in DK handspun yarn. Gauge is 4.5 sts and 8 rows over 1”/2.5cm in lightly blocked garter stitch.
