UPDATED: To add a headband pattern

This pattern tutorial is for someone who is new to Brioche knitting. I have YouTube videos for all the brioche stitches used in this pattern. You do not need any brioche knitting knowledge to work this pattern. This is a FULL tutorial to learn 2 color brioche and make a cowl in the process. You must have basic knowledge of knit stitches and purl stitches, so you need to know how to knit and purl, and perform decreases. This pattern is written in the round and on circular needles. You must be able to join rounds and work on circular needles.

I read so many patterns and watched so many videos trying to learn and it took forever. I decided there had to be a better way to learn brioche. So this is my method!
So many patterns say “suitable for a beginner”, but unless you actually know how to brioche knit/purl there is nothing easy about them.

Materials Needed to complete this pattern:
US 10/6mm Circular knitting needles with a 16inch cable
1 stitch marker
Light worsted weight/worsted weight yarn

Brioche cowls such as this take the knitter twice as long as a normal knitted scarf to whip up. Brioche knitting involves tucked stitches and when 2 colors are used, it creates a beauitful pattern of colors that makes your work reversible. It is a tough concept to get, but once you learn it, it has an addicting quality.
