Bella is a luxurious oversize long shawl with a simple stockinette center and a large falling leaf border, finished in a scalloped open edge. The stockinette center is knit without a garter edge so it purposely rolls gently inward at the top and bottom.

This design is inspired by and uses stitch patterns from the earliest 19th century knitting books and is knit in the style of that time - long, wide and elegant.

FINISHED SIZE: 90 x 23” YARN:
Colourmart 2/30 fine lace merino Shibui Silk Cloud

1658 yards fine lace weight merino 1658 yards silk cloud

NOTES:
The stockinette center is knit first, beginning with a provisional cast on, and one strand of merino held together with one strand of Shibui Silk Cloud.
The leaf borders are knit by continuing with the Merino and changing out of the purple mohair with white for a lighter, tonal effect.
It is finished with a short edging that is worked right off the end of the leaf pattern.
