Ten Mile Beach Victorian Long Shaw.

This is a traditional 1840’s style Victorian long shawl, approximately 90” long. It has a cable and lace insert border with a fagotted edge which moves right into a longer stockinette center, followed by a repeat of the cable/lace border. It is knit in one piece.

The shawl uses 5 skeins each of Shibui Knits Silk Cloud and Shibui Knits Cima. The yarns are held together throughout. The body uses 3 skeins of each and 1 skein of each for each border.

Possible yarn substitutions
A lace weight merino, alpaca or wool held together with a Mohair/silk blend, preferably 70/30 mohair to silk.
Or, a single strand of fingering or sport weight yarn.

The length and width of Ten Mile Beach can easily be customized by reducing or enlarging the pattern by the number of stitches in the cabled chart.
