A “twist” on the classic Aran Diamond alternates with a bell pattern on this vest that looks much more complex than it is.

Gauge: 9 sts x 13 rnds = 2” on US #8 – 5 mm needles in Twisted Ribbing, slightly stretched. One pattern rep of Bells of Ireland (64 sts x 24 rnds) measures 12” wide x 4” tall.

Because of the width and nature of the pattern stitch used on this vest, it was not possible to easily resize it. Obviously, the size could probably be adjusted by changing the gauge, but this would affect both the width and length and would need to be carefully planned. In addition, the pattern does not start at the center of the underarm, but is offset.

All of the shaping for the underarm and front neck is cleverly worked into the stitch pattern.

Pattern is fully charted and written out.
