Bennachie Top
The inspiration for the Bennachie Top started with the colours that caught Sylvia’s eye in the Great Tapestry of Scotland. To celebrate Scottish weaving, she also wanted to design a garment using a pattern that had an appearance of woven cloth. The tops of the diamond shapes in the pattern resemble hills, and remind her of the Mither Tap, the most distinctive of the nine summits of the Bennachie hills in Aberdeenshire.
The tank top/vest is a loose, V-neck garment designed to be worn over short- or long-sleeved tops or dresses. It is knitted flat, with the front and back pieces separately worked from the lower rib edge to the shoulders, with armhole and neckline ribbing added. The two-colour 24-row pattern is achieved by slipping stitches.
Bennachie Top is available in 9 sizes from 87.5 cm (34.5 in) to 158.5 cm (64.25 in) bust/chest circumference.
