Benny Bear The Classic Teddy Crochet Pattern. (Hat not included)

This was my first Pattern, I found it impossible to find a pattern for a classic teddy bear that was small and easy to make so I made my own. I wanted to make a teddy bear that was small enough to be used as a photography prop for a newborn baby to put their arm around. It would also make a great gift and keepsake for any mother to be. Please note that this is for a PDF pattern not a physical bear.

Feel free to sell any Benny Bears you make from my pattern but please all I ask is that you don’t forget to credit my pattern and my store and that you do NOT share and/or duplicate my pattern in anyway. Many hours of love went into creating this pattern.

I’d love to see your finished products! So please feel free to send me a photo!

Finish Size
-Approximately 23cm
-Size varies depending on the size of yarn, tension and crochet hook

Time
Approximately 5 hours

Materials
To make you will need

  1. Medium Yarn. I used Passionknit Fairy Tales Angel
  2. 2X Small buttons or safety eyes
  3. Polyester fibrefill for stuffing
  4. Sewing needle and embroidery thread
  5. Size 4mm crochet hook
  6. Round marker, I use a paper clip.

Note
The size of the crochet hook shouldn’t really matter, Just bear in mind that using a different size hook will change the overall size of the finished bear.
Skill and abbreviations
You will need to know how to make a magic ring or adjustable ring
-Single crochet (sc)
-Crochet increase (inc) which means make 2 single crochet in same stitch
-Crochet decrease (dec) which means-Crochet 2 stitches together
-Stitch (st)
-Chain (ch)
-Slip stitch (sl st)
- Basic embroidery skills to make a nose. Alternatively you could add a plastic nose piece or a pompom or whatever you like if you don’t want to embroider it.
There is often confusion between UK and US terminology as the same name means different stitches. For a breakdown of each of the stitches that I used in my pattern, please refer to this site:
