Introducing Bering Shawl… designed for my 2019 trip to Alaska!

Pattern is 30% off through August 20th, no coupon code needed!

Kits available here: http://www.nelkindesigns.com/beringshawlkits

I tried to keep it simple, but interesting…. the construction starts out quite portable which makes a ton of sense for travel knitting! The beads are prestrung and worked with the easiest of techniques.

Construction

  1. Five Glaciers are worked. These start with The Tip (a small mitered square). The Tip then has sts picked up around it, and The Break Up is worked (with optional beads), and finally the Blow Hole Section is worked. All of these sts are put on scrap yarn.
  2. Then Inner Passages are worked that join the Glaciers together.
  3. Finally, sts are picked up all the way around the rectangle that is made by joining the Icebergs and Inner Passages together, and The Outside is worked in the round until the shawl is the size you want OR you run out of yarn.
