Worked in the round on circular needle with double pointed
needles or magic loop at top. Stranded with 2 colors.
Hat may be made larger with larger size needle.
Worked with only 2 skeins, quite a lot left over.
The picture looks black and white but I used a very, very
dark brown #410 and the creamy white #401.
This knit up very quickly. I am pleased with the
shape of5 points.
Complete instructions for Purl Braid given. 2 charts.
The hat has 4 repeats of the heart (Love) and 1 central
front of the Branch. (Life and Death) Other motifs are the
Pelican (Christian Charity) St Hallvard’s Crown
(Patron Saint of Oslo) and
åtteblad rose -eight pointed star) for Protection.
The whole story of the original weaver, 1800’s
in Norway, Berit Hilmo is in the pattern.
