Berry Season is a darling cardigan for girls. Knit from the bottom up starting with a tubular cast-on and deep ribbing, the cardigan features a twin leaf lace motif down the center back and on either side of the button band. Faux side seams add just a touch of structure.

The body is worked flat and the shoulders are joined with a three-needle bind off. Sleeve stitches are picked up around the armhole and short rows shape the sleeve cap. The top-down sleeves keep this an almost seamless knit that’s fit for any little girl.

The pattern includes written and charted instructions for the twin leaf lace and the leaf and berry lace, as well as photos illustrating the german short rows used to shape the sleeve caps.

This is an appropriate project for knitters with intermediate skills.
