Bert(a)’s Charity Hat is a traditional top-down crochet design with added texture for added interest. The design works up quickly and is suitable for kids, men, and women. Three sizes are easily adaptable for charitable donating or for your friends and family.

Use DK yarn and a 4.5mm hook for the child size. Adult sizes are worsted weight and have additional rounds. This pattern is a great intro to Front Post Double Crochet.

Want a different look? Just turn it inside out and a new texture is visible.

Bert(a) is a severe macaw (or chestnut fronted macaw). She loves playing with yarn toys and even learned to beak-felt acrylic. Normally, Bert(a) is not allowed in the studio. But she loves this hat so much, that I made an exception….just this once.
