Introducing Bertie Bear, a small snuggly friend who enjoys adventures… particularly picnics!

Bertie can be knitted by a complete beginner. Step-by-step instructions on how to knit and sew-up Berties (including pictures), are provided.

To knit Bertie you need to be able to:

• Cast on stitches (I use a long tail cast on but any method will work),

• Knit stitch (no purl stitches are involved),

• Knit front and back of a stitch to increase the stitch count,

• Knit 2 stiches together to decrease the stitch count,

• Cast off stitches

When completed in the Paintbox Simply Chunky Bertie is approximately 9 inches tall, however this will vary depending on how tightly or loosly you knit.

Bertie can also be completed in Dk wool with size 2.00mm knitting needles, or super chunky with 4.00mm knitting needles. Further advice on knitting needle size is given.
