Wooper is a Water and Ground type Pokémon, with a design inspired by the axolotl. It was originally introduced in Pokémon Gold & Silver in 1999. In April 2020 a demo version of the games was leaked, revealing a number of beta versions of Pokemon designs including Wooper. The unused design is cute and chubby- somewhat resembling the popular character Pusheen- and was apparently originally intended to be Normal/Flying type.

Finished dimensions: 10 across, 8cm high - fits in the palm of your hand.

Supplies

  1. DK yarn in blue-grey, white and black (less than 50g of each)
  2. 3mm hook
  3. Fiberfill stuffing
  4. Yarn needle
  5. Black felt for eyes (optional)

Notes
• Gauge, hook and yarn weight are not too important as long as you choose the right yarn weight for your hook and have a consistent gauge throughout.
• The instructions use standard American crochet terms.
• Because three of the legs are at the front of the body, the finished Wooper won’t stand up by itself but will need to lean against something. You could move the legs around to prevent this if you don’t mind it not matching the original artwork.
