Tassels in different colours and textures is a fun way to update a basic shawl. This is a one skein + mini/leftovers shawl in 4-ply/fingering weight, perfect for a quick shawl without breaking the bank!

Betasseled is the tassel version of the Social Bobble shawl. The shawl comes in both garter and stockinette versions and instructions for how to work the contrast stripes with tassel placement.

I’ve used a merino/nylon yarn for the stripes and mixed in some extra brushed alpaca in the tassels for a little extra texture.

Yarn
Main colour:
380-400m of 4ply wool yarn, approx. 420m/100g. Samples made in SkeinQueen Crush merino/nylon in colour Salvage (tassel version)
Contrast colour: 80m of 4ply wool yarn, approx. 420m/100g, sample used SkeinQueen Crush in colour Vegas, baby!
Tassels: SkeinQueen Crush in colour Vegas, baby! together with Brushed Alpaca Silk

Needles: 3.75mm/US5
Gauge: blocked garter 20-21 sts/10 cm, unblocked stockinette 28 sts/10cm
Notions: 2 stitch markers, one of them locking
Measurements blocked: garter version: 170cm wingspan, 52cm deep,

Note that the shawl is knitted as one size, but due to the nature of the fabric of garter stitch and stockinette, the finished measurements differ slightly between the versions. The both take one skein of 4-ply/fingering yarn for the main colour, and 15-25 g of contrast colours.
