Betsy Ross Doll
Make the Betsy Ross Doll in time to celebrate the U.S.A. Flag Day (June 14th). She is crocheted all in one piece to make her safe for children. Plus she is machine washable and dryable.
I use sport weight acrylic yarn with an E (3.50 mm) hook to acheive a 9 to 10 inch doll but you could also use readily available worsted weight acrylic yarn with a G hook for a larger doll. The key is to work the stitches tightly.
While you only need a few ounces of yarn for the entire doll, you use a variety of colors with the main colors red, white, blue, pink, and brown. You need less than an ounce of each of the main colors. You would also need just a few feet of gray and blue to embroider her blue eyes/gray lashes. Afterall the details are what make any doll special! Since little children always look under the skirt, she even has little panties on!
This is part of my Sweetie Bumbum doll collections. The collection has a variety of pocket sized dolls to help children celebrate many holidays and seasons throughout the year.
