This cowl and fingerless mitts set has a coordinating leaf lace motif that is perfect for walks during those transitional weather days in spring and fall.

The cowl is an especially versatile piece. It can be worn buttoned and draped as a long, single layer; doubled up to wear closer to the neckline; or even wrapped three times around the neck for extra coziness. Or wear it unbuttoned as a scarf.

Sizing & Finished Measurements

MITTS:

Finished palm circumference: 6¼ (7, 7¾)“ / 16 (18, 19.5)cm
Can be worn with ½” / 1.5cm negative ease through ½“ / 1.5cm positive ease, depending on preference.
Finished length: 12” / 30.5cm

COWL:

Finished measurements: 7½“ / 19cm wide x 54” / 137cm long, after blocking

Materials

FOR BOTH PROJECTS:

The Woolen Rabbit Sporty Opal (75% merino, 15% silk, 10% cashmere; 275 yds / 251m per 113g skein); 2 skeins, shown in Pussywillow colorway

  • Cowl sample used 345 yds; size M mitts sample used 180 yds.
  • The above yardage estimates are generous; you should be able to work the cowl and the mitts in any size using two skeins, but working the size L mitts together with the cowl may require a third skein. To avoid this, you can knit the mitts first, then knit the cowl until the yarn runs out.
