Hello Halloween Pun Lovers! Meet Betty Bat(tery), founding member of the Halloween Reject Club. Sadly, Betty didn’t get a single invite to a Halloween Party this year… luckily she always looks on the bright side and powers on! Don’t get an invite? Why not start your own club? Way to stay positive Betty!

This little cute Bat(tery) is a fabulous, quick and easy gift to hook for Halloween.

This pattern has been rated as “Easy/Intermediate” meaning it is suitable for confident beginners to amigurumi. In addition to basic crochet stitches this pattern assumes you have knowledge of working in the round, changing colours, and increasing and decreasing stitches and are familiar with the front and back loops. All of these techniques can be easily learnt through free online tutorials if you are not familiar with them.

Finished product size is approximately 12cm tall and 18cm across including wings when crocheted using a 3mm hook and using cotton DK/8ply yarn.

Stitches used include: magic ring, chain, single crochet, half double crochet, double crochet, increase, decrease, single crochet three together (decrease across 3 stitches), slip stitch, picot (instructions provided for picot stitch)

Materials needed: cotton yarn of less than 30g in 8ply for the main battery and wing colours, and smaller scraps of yarn for the lightning bolt and embroidery. Also a crochet hook, toy stuffing, safety eyes, yarn needle to sew in ends, plus stitch markers if desired and felt for behind the eyes (optional).
