I was inspired to knit this poncho by my son’s girlfriend’s mother. She said she already has a lot of shawls made by me but she would like a poncho very much. That’s why I named the pattern Her name.
I wanted this pattern to be simple, to render the beauty of the yarn, and to be easy to do. I hope I was able to meet these expectations.

This poncho looks beautiful using gradient yarn, but you can also use a one-color yarn. This pattern is also suitable to use up all the odds and ends of fingering weight yarn.

The Betty Poncho is knit from the top down similar to a raglan top-down sweater, worked in the round on circular needle.
Original yarn used in this pattern was Flowers of YarnArt (1094 yds (1000 m)/ 8.82 Oz (250g)), colorways: 291, and 250.

The pattern was tested by members of my own group Jolanta Zwierzchowska designs. Many thanks to perfect test knitters and revisers: wool-zombie and Ayala120.
According to testers, this pattern is fun to knit.

Finished Measurements: Circumference at the neck 26.00” (66 cm) circumference at the bottom 52.7” (134 cm) in length, and 17.7” (45 cm) length.
Gauge: after blocking - 10 x 10 cm (4” x 4”) = 18 stitches and 36 rows in stockinette pattern. Gauge is not critical here.

This poncho is worked in the round on circular needle.
To work a shawl, you should know the following intermediate techniques: reading charts, basic decreases (ssk; k2tog), double decreases (sssk, k3tog) and increase (yo).
This pattern contains a diagram of all section of the poncho on one page as well as all used charts in each section of the poncho. Besides, the pattern gives a written line-by-line description of each chart.
Please note: the stitch pattern in this shawl is charted only.
Tools:
1 set circular needle size 2 US (2.75 mm) or size 2½ US (3.00 mm) and 1 set size 6 US (4.0 mm) as well as 32’’ (80 cm) or longer (length which suits you) and 4 stitch markers, one in a different style or color to mark the beginning of the round, (and an additional 12 markers if you want to separate each chart and repeat of the chart).
To bind off the shawl, I advise you to use a crochet hook size 7 US (4.5 mm), you can use the needles too.
