Betty’s Blanket

This is very sentimental pattern for me as it is my daughter’s blanket. After years of trying to have a child, I had a girl who was born perfectly healthy and beautiful. I finished knitting the blanket just a few days before she was born, she’s spent her first winter wrapped up in it, and it’s still her favorite blanket, years later.

The pattern is meant to create a warm, cuddly and colorful baby blanket that can be made as big as desired. The pictured blanket required 5 colors of DK weight yarn but it can easily be modified to use more or less colors. For example, you could use one main color and a different color for each row of bubbles, making a great use for all those leftover yarns from other projects. You can also adapt the size by increasing or decreasing the number of stitches that you cast on and by adjusting the length to your liking or satisfaction.

Finished size (after blocking):
31” (79 cm) wide by 35” (89 cm) high

Yarn and yardage:
5 colors of DK weight yarn
Approx. 544 yards of MC
Approx. 165 yards of each of 4 contrasting color (660 yards total)

Difficulty: Advanced beginner - the bubble stitch, once mastered, is easy to create. A phototutorial is included in the pattern as well as a link to a video tutorial.

Ce modèle est très sentimental pour moi parce que je l’ai tricoté durant ma grossesse. J’ai terminé l’ouvrage quelques jours avant mon accouchement, et ma petite a passé tout son premier hiver emmitouflée dedans.

Le patron est conçu pour créer une couverture chaude, rassurante et colorée. Ma couverture a été faite en utilisant 5 couleurs de fil de grosseur DK, mais le modèle peut être réalisé avec plus ou moins de couleurs pour obtenir le résultat que vous recherchez. Par exemple, il est possible d’utiliser une couleur principale et une couleur différente pour chaque rangée de bulles, créant ainsi la parfaite occasion pour utiliser les restants de fils provenant d’autres projets.

Environ 497 m (544 vg) de la couleur principale
Environ 150 m (165 vg) de chacune des quatre couleurs secondaires, pour un total de 600 m (660 vg)

Le prototype a été réalisé avec le fil Paintbox Yarn Simply DK, coloris Peach Orange (couleur principale), Stormy Grey, Melon Sorbet, Mustard Yellow, Pistachio Green (couleurs secondaires)

Niveau de difficulté : Débutant avancé : une fois maîtrisé, le point bulles est facile à créer. Un tutoriel photo est inclus dans le patron.
