This crochet pattern is for a an adorable Big Bird. This loveable and well-known character from Sesame Street is a favourite among folks of all ages. These guys are really cute and well-received as gifts. They also sell well at markets and craft shows.

This easy crochet pattern is written in US terms and is designed for crocheters with a solid understanding of simple crochet, and who don’t mind a little bit of sewing. Lots of photos are included to help you along the way.

Materials
• 109 yards/ 100 grams size 4 (worsted weight) yarn in Yellow
• Scrap amounts size 4 weight yarn in Orange, Pink, Red, White, Blue, Hot Pink
• Crochet hook size H 5.00 mm
• Crochet hook size G 4.00 mm
• Tapestry needle
• Fiber Fill
• Stitch marker
• 2 x 1/4-inch black buttons ONLY if piece is being made for people over 3 years of age.

Notes
• Big Bird’s Legs, Body and Head are worked in one piece, using 2 strands of yarn held together.
• Big Bird’s Wings are worked separately, using 2 strands of yarn held together, in continuous rounds and are sewn on.
• Big Bird’s Beak, Eyes and Tail are worked separately, using 1 strand of yarn and smaller hook and are sewn on.
• Big Bird is worked in continuous rounds from the bottom up
• The finished piece is approximately 8.5 inches tall.
