The Big Braid Beanie is designed for the knitter in search of a classic, functional accessory with a bold and modern twist. The oversized braided cable falls to the side of the beanie for a stylish look and is flanked by a timeless and simple garter stitch body (with no seam or jog). The slouchy, slinky, airy body is just the right compliment to the plump, full cable.

This beanie is designed for the average-sized woman’s head (20-22”) and slouches comfortably while feeling secure with a twisted rib brim. You will only need 105 yards (size 5 bulky) for this pattern, which makes it a perfect quick knit for “selfish knitting” or craft shows. The pattern also provides an option for knitting double stranded with DK weight yarn (210 yards required for knitting double-stranded).

This pattern assumes that the user is familiar with knitting in the round, basic knitting and cable stitches and finishing. Adjustments may be made for a more “snug” fit by simply adjusting needle size. Please noted that you will need both 16” circular needles and DPN for the decrease.
