This vanilla sock pattern features a redesigned afterthought heel with modifications to accommodate a wider instep and is ideal for those struggling to find a heel that fits.

Construction: Knit cuff-down in the round using magic loop, but can be easily converted to DPNs or 9” circulars. It includes instructions for an afterthought heel, modifications for wider insteps, and a rounded toe.

Sizes: I have included instruction for sizes XS (for children) all the way to Adult LG.

Skill Level: Experienced Beginner- Intermediate. Needs a basic understanding of german short-rows, afterthought heels. and the kitchener method for closing the toe.

The pattern includes written instructions.

Materials Needed
Yarn: 50-100 grams/200-400 yds of any desired fingering weight sock yarn. This pattern is ideal for self-striping yarns, but will work wonderfully with any colorway.
Needle Sizes: US 1 (2.25mm) 32-40” circular needles (for magic loop)
Notions: lightbulb markers (optional), and tapestry needle
Gauge: 9 sts per inch in stockinette
