Ever hear of a weighted blanket to cure insomnia!!?? I made one for my husband out of Bernat Mega Bulky and it really worked! This yarn is heavy and thick, yet super soft, and worked perfectly! It put him to sleep and may even reduce his restless leg syndrome! No need to add anything else to the weight from my experience.

This is a super easy pattern that anyone can work up quickly and adjust to whatever size they choose. It only uses half double crochet and half double crochet in the horizontal bar or third stitch. Once you get this down, it’s repetitive and goes super fast. The border is a double crochet, if you choose to add one.

Of course, you could try using 3 or 4 strands of a any worsted weight yarn in your stash if that works better for you, but I’ve not tried that myself.

PLEASE NOTE: This blanket is not scientifically weighted to fit the person using it. The blanket weighs about 10 lbs as I made it. That is sufficient to calm my 300 lb. husband’s legs down and make him sleep.
