Big snowstorm, big shawl. Winter 2015
Inspired by the snowstorm at the end of January 2015. I was trying not to go outside, thinking warm thoughts as the snow swirled around my home at the end of January. It took me until the end of the winter to finish it as there were other things to tend to both at home and unfortunately outside of the home but I love the results. Others have commented on the versatility of this piece, a scarf, a shawl, a hip hugging belt, it’s all season use. With all those attributes I just had to post it here.
This piece is over-sized enough to scrunch deeply around my neck and still have the tassel swinging behind my knees, and I am five foot eight inches tall. When I spread my arms to drape it on my shoulders the long side still drips by about a foot from my finger tips . It’s delicious, lovely huge!
With a sensual drape and surprising warmth when folded or bunched, this will be your grab and go choice when ever you need that perfect additional layer. In the Spring it will cover your shoulders adding a just the right defense against those clouds that hide the sun’s warmth. In the summer, it will be a sweetly soft, light evening layer when a sunburn leaves you with chills. In the Autumn it will ward off the early morning frost of evening winds. In the winter, bunched around your neck, you will appreciate the warm softness against your neck and ears as it adds another insulating layer to your shoulders and back under your coat.
With it’s graceful drape it can be dressy or it will add a very nice touch of panache to your jeans worn over your shoulders or bunched at the waist and knotted casually over one hip. However you wear it you’re going to love this big beautiful piece.
