Biostratigraphy is a top-down crescent shawl featuring a sampler of stitch patterns. Beginning with textured short rows, the shawl organically transitions through different layers of texture and lace.

Yarn: If desired, each section can be worked in a different color. The approximate yarn usage by section is as follows:

Section 1 (short rows): 65 yards (60 meters)
Section 2 (texture): 120 yards (110 meters)
Section 3 (lace): 120 yards (110 meters)
Section 4 (diamonds): 170 yards (155 meters)
Section 5 (edging): 60 yards (55 meters)

Yardage estimates are only given for the pattern as written. However, additional repeats can be worked in all sections other than sections 1 and 5 to make a larger shawl. Increasing the number of repeats in a given section will increase the yarn needed in that section and all subsequent sections.

Skills needed: knit, purl, slip stitch, wrap and turn short rows, decreases (ssk, k2tog, cdd, psso)

Biostratigraphy is one of five shawls in the Geologica collection. Patterns may be purchased individually or as part of the whole collection. If you choose to purchase an individual pattern, no credits or discounts will be given on the purchase of the entire collection.

All patterns are available for individual purchase at $5, except Granitoid, which is $3.

The full collection can be purchased for $16. No discounts will be available if you purchase an individual pattern and later wish to purchase the entire collection.
