Bird Foot is an extremely stretchy, ribbed and textured beanie designed with men in mind, although it looks great on everyone. Due to the ribbed nature of the pattern it is designed to have 5.5 - 6 inches of negative ease for a beanie style fit. The fun to make textured stitches are reminiscent of trails of bird tracks which is partially how the pattern got it’s name. You can read more about the patterns story below.

The Story Behind the Design
I really wanted to gift my boyfriend a hat designed specifically for him for Christmas. It started as a Christmas present but wasn’t actually finished until Valentine’s Day, which I’m sure you all know how that goes. It was extremely fun allowing him to be a part of the process. He chose the yarn color and helped with the final choices of the stitch patterning. He also got to decide on the fit and style. He named the pattern Bird Foot as well, which he thinks is hilarious. I would have chosen something a bit different, lol. And it was all his idea to wear a floral summer shirt in the snow for photography. Even though I didn’t necessarily agree with all of the decisions he made, I let him make them. This is his full gift after all, and in the end it was a ton of fun to create this pattern together.
