Birk the Sleepy Fox is part of the Nordic Slumberlings collection – a series of cozy woodland animals designed to look like they’ve peacefully fallen asleep in the forest.
This pattern creates a soft plush fox with a relaxed, slightly floppy “snuggler” style body and sleepy embroidered eyes.
The design is mostly no-sew, with the arms, legs, ears and tail crocheted directly into the body during construction.
The pattern is worked primarily in continuous rounds using a combination of single crochet and half double crochet stitches. Different hook sizes are used throughout the pattern to shape the fox and create the soft plush proportions.

Construction:
The pattern is worked in several sections:
Front paws
Legs
Ears
Head
Body (arms and legs are crocheted into the body)
Tail
Most pieces are crocheted separately and then incorporated directly into the body while crocheting, minimizing sewing.

Yarn & Hooks:
The pattern was designed using super bulky chenille yarn and multiple hook sizes:
6 mm hook – head and front paws
7 mm hook – legs and tail
8 mm hook – body
Using different yarn types or hook sizes may slightly change the finished size and proportions.

Additional Notes:
The body is designed as a snuggler style, meaning it is intentionally not stuffed for a softer, cuddly look.
Because crochet tension varies, you may need to adjust stitch placement slightly when attaching arms or legs to keep them centered.
The eyes and nose are embroidered after finishing the crochet work.

Pattern for gauge:
Approx. 8–10 sc = 10 cm using super bulky chenille yarn and 6–8 mm hook, worked in the round. Gauge is not critical for this pattern but may affect the finished size.
