From September 19th to October 3rd 2023, please enjoy 20% off the Birkeland Shawl pattern!

The Birkeland Shawl is an asymmetrical triangle shawl featuring lovely textures of cables, bobbles and garter stitch. This shawl features Midknit Cravings yarn on their Comfort Sport/DK base, in the colourway Cobblestone.

Skills involved:
Cables, bobbles, smock stitch, i-cord bind-off.

Yarn:
4 skeins of Midknit Cravings Comfort Sport/DK
or approx. 900 m (984 yds) of DK weight yarn

Needles:
4mm (US 6) and cable lengths of 24” and 40” (you can technically knit the whole shawl on the longer cord if you don’t mind the extra cable hanging around at the start!)

Gauge:
25 sts over 34 rows = 4” x 4” (10cm x 10cm) in charted instructions

Finished Size: Wingspan = 72” (182 cm) / Depth = 28” (71 cm)

Notions:
Cable needle
1 stitch marker
3.75mm (Size F) crochet hook (for making bobbles - if you choose to do a knitted bobble, the crochet hook will be unnecessary)

Pattern notes:
This pattern provides charts and written instructions for the charts. I have also included some links to video tutorials on how to do the crochet bobble stitch, as well as other methods to achieve the bobbles.
