Birkes Romper is worked from the bottom up, both flat and in the round, using 1 strand of either Merino, Cotton Merino or Pure Silk. It features an easy to work colorwork pattern where you only work with 1 color per round/row.
You start by working the two crotch pieces separately back and forth, before work is joined on the same needle and continued in the round up to the underarms. Sleeves are worked in the round and joined with the body at the underarms. Yoke is shaped with raglan decreases, initially in the round and later back and forth. The romper has a little back split that is closed with 1 button and a crochet loop. Garter edges finish the sleeves, leg openings and neckband, while the crotch is closed with 4 buttons.
The colorwork pattern is charted only.
