BIRTA
Signy Benediktsdóttir (1900- 1991) knitted these mittens and gave them to the Textile Museum. They have a horizontally striped cuff and a vertically striped palm. The back and the thumb are patterned with leaves, eight-petal roses, and diamonds. The originals were knitted in a dark brown main color and a white contrasting color. Pay close attention to the dominant color when knitting the stripes on the palm.
