This design was inspired by my love of blankets. In my opinion, there is absolutely nothing better than snuggling up all toasty and warm beneath a gorgeous hand knitted blanket. I designed and released the ‘Bits And Bobs’ blanket in 2017 specifically with this in mind.

It is fair to say that over the last few years I have become a little addicted to that super squishy blanket of goodness. But there is a problem, because sometimes I have to get up from the sofa !!

So, a solution was in order and this cowl is it ! I can now keep that lovely cosy feeling all day long, whilst still getting on with everyday life.

The ‘Bits And Bobs Cowl’ looks and feels like brioche but without any of the challenges associated with this technique. It uses a simple and relaxing stitch pattern that is highly addictive and knits up in a flash.

The best part of creating your own cowl is the opportunity for you to play with colour. Whether you are using up bits and bobs of leftover yarn, or you are selecting the perfect colours to match the personality of the wearer, this is the project for you !

The pattern sample was knitted using one skein of Cascade Heritage in ‘Snow’, and then this is held together with various bits and bobs of fingering weight yarn to the same yardage.

The pattern contains video tutorials for all of the specific techniques I used, along with lots of helpful hints and tips.
