This is a variation of a Granny Square starting with the normal first two rounds usually seen and then a series of chains and blocks to give a more lacy appearance.

Uses sc, hdc, dc and exdc. Exdc = extended double crochet. Instructions for stitch are in pattern.

I made two for potholders, but you could easily make a larger number of blocks

  • say a strip of 7 or 8 to make a scarf
  • say 35 - 5 blocks x 7 blocks wide - to make a lapblanket.
