Just in time for Halloween! My pattern for my popular Black Cat Coasters. A 14 page download will walk you through all the steps to crochet this cute coaster. Fun to make! I think you will find many uses for this pattern this Halloween and for many Halloweens to come!

Make 4 or more for a coaster set, or just one for a mug rug, great appliqué or decoration. The charm of this design is that you are viewing the kitty from the back – think of the silhouette of a plump cat from behind, maybe looking out a window – so there is no need to add facial features - but this could easily be transformed into the front view of a cat with some embroidery, if you prefer. I like the simple lines of this view from behind. So cute!

You will need:

G Crochet Hook (See note on gauge)
Worsted Weight Yarn in Black, about 10 yards per coaster - a great way to use up your stash. I used Red Heart Super Saver for the purple cat in the instruction photos and the gauge is based on that yarn. The black cat coaster set pictured was made with Sugar N’ Cream Cotton yarn in Black.
Stitch markers.
Tapestry Needle to weave in ends.

SKILL LEVEL: EASY

GAUGE: Gauge is not important for this project. When you finish the first round of DC the piece should measure about 1.25” across the middle. The finished size of the cat, not including the tail, will be about 5.5” in length to tip of the ear by about 4” across. Your gauge may differ and you may have to adjust your hook size depending on how you crochet and whether you use a different type of yarn.

Note: Purple yarn is used in the photos with the instructions because black did not show stitch detail well.
