NOTEPage 18 - Ref. Fig 12. Purl from F to E; D to C; B to A****

from It being a Halloween baby (i.e off the needles around about that date!) I’ll call mine Midnight with homage to Maud’s black kitten from those wonderful Worst Witch series of books by Jill Murphy.

My black kitten is fluffy - thanks to a doubling up of Drops yarn Kid Silk plus alpaca, and therefore also very soft… not sure how well she’ll sit on the end of my broomstick though!

She’s a standing-up kitten (kind of knitted to pose that way) so she can be dressed! (I’m thinking Tom Kitten next) and I’ve dressed mine in a simple hooded cape, still on the Halloween theme but can be Christmas too! - Cape pattern included.

Like all of my patterns ‘Midnight’ is knitted on two straight needles but joining as you go so there is a lesser amount of seaming at the end - i.e no joining of fiddly legs and arms and ears.
I use short rows and pick-up stitches for shaping and joining so there’s always interest on each page - plus comprehensive step diagrams to help you along.

I hope you like knitting your pet kitten, she or he is most cuddly when you’re done!
