This is a top-down colourwork yoke, knitted seamlessly in the round. The pattern instructs you on how to knit it with or without waist fitting, full-length or cropped. My objective with this pattern is to give the knitter the tools, experience, and confidence to approach other traditional Norwegian colourwork yoke patterns, which are often less detailed and instructive.

I hope you will enjoy this pattern, and if you need any help or have any suggestions, this topic in my Ravelry group is the best place for swift support.

Yarn
Rauma Finull PT2 (100% Norwegian wool, 175m / 191 yds, 50g).

Alternatives: Hillesvåg Ask, Vilje or Sølje, Sandnes Tove, Navia Duo, Holst Supersoft, Jamieon’s Spindrift, Jamieson & Smith 2 ply jumper weight, etc.

You will get the best result with fingering or sport weight non-superwash woollen spun sheep wool yarn.

Needles
Gauge-size needles for stockinette and stranded colourwork, and 1 mm below gauge-size needles for rib, for working long and short circumferences.

The sample was made using 3.75 mm (US 5) for the stockinette, 4 mm (US 6) for the colourwork and 2.75 mm (US 2) for the rib, but I expect most will need smaller needles than these to get gauge.

Gauge
24 sts x 34 rnds = 10 cm / 4” stockinette

Sizes
To fit bust (81, 86, 92, 97) (102, 107, 112, 117) (122, 127, 132, 137) cm / (32, 34, 36, 38) (40, 42, 44, 46) (48, 50, 52, 54)”.

To be worn with 0-5cm /0-2” positive ease. Choose the size that measures 0-5 cm / 0-2” more than bust of the recipient.
Can be knitted full length or cropped, with or without waist fitting.
Modelled with size 105 cm (41”) bust, size 6. Cropped & waist fit option.

Notions
2 x stitch markers
2 x 40-60 cm / 16-24” long waste yarn or spare needles for holding sleeve stitches.

The suggested yarns are categorised as different weights (sport, fingering, 4ply). This is often because these yarns are from countries that don’t use these categories. However, if you hold strands from each yarn together side by side, you’ll notice they look very much the same. Moreover, the type of yarn that I recommend (2 ply woollen spun) have the advantage that they can be used the same way even if they span from sport weight to light fingering.
