Among all the patterns in this club, these are the most archetypal Selbu mittens, and arguably also the most intuitive pair to knit. The idea is that we start simple, and then pair by pair build up confidence and ability to tackle more intricate colourwork design.

All you need is two 50g skeins of DK weight yarn, one in each colour. For these mittens I used Navia Trio: 82 (89yds) metres of the main colour and 77 (84 yds) metres of the contrast colour, whereas one of my test knitters used 104(114yds) and 81(90yds) metres, respectively. So you might want to aim a bit higher than that to avoid playing yarn chicken.

I named this pattern Mebonden, after the centre village of Selbu where their administraton, the Selbu church and the annual Selbumartnan is located (a martnan is a traditional Norwegian market, tracing back to medieval times).

If you need any help with this pattern then this topic in my group is the best place for support.
