When the weather turns chilly it’s time to snuggle my new granddaughter into a warm blanket. In designing this blanket I wanted it to be washable and stylish. I adapted a Norwegian star design repeat for the border and stockinette for the blanket.

The border is knit twice, once with the light colour dominant and another in the reverse. The two border pieces are then sewn together making a ‘faux’ double knit. It gives the blanket a sturdy section which is less likely to slip or be kicked aside by the baby. Seamlessly attached to the border, the blanket section is in stockinette. The no-roll sides of the blanket feature a 4 stitch pattern repeat over 2 rows which from the right side is nearly invisible and on the wrong side is a nice looking border.
