Short hair and older dogs can benefit from a warm layer when the mercury dips, just like their human companions. But, getting your K9 to put on a jacket can be a huge battle especially if the coat or sweater has holes through which your pup is supposed to put its front paws, no one likes to do that.

Let’s keep it simple and stress free by putting it on over the head like one would put on a lead and buttoning a single button along the dog’s back. No hassle, no fight, slip it on, button it and enjoy it.

The stitches used were chosen for their flexibility. The yarn was chosen because it is soft, warm and washes beautifully.

Pattern notes explain how to scale the jacket up or down to suit larger and smaller breeds.
