Bliss’ Simple Hat
Supplies needed: scraps of any colors worsted weight yarn amounts depending on how many colors you use. Size H hook or size you are comfortable with. My basic hat is a child size, but size can be changed by started with less stiches or more increase rows. Change colors at the joining slip to make it your own I sometimes do two colors with 2 rounds each or two colors with a 3 round of one color and 1 of the other. But you can do any number of colors and strip size you like
Round 1: In a magic ring 12 DC (for a smaller hat use 11 or 10 DC) slip stich to first DC
Round 2: ch3 DC in same st, 2 DC in each DC. Slip stitch to chain 3
Round 3: ch3 DC in same st, DC in next Stitch, (2 DC in next Stitch, DC in next Stitch) around, Slip stitch to chain 3
Round 4: ch3 DC in same st, DC in next 2 Stitchs, (2 DC in next Stitch, DC in next 2 Stitchs) around, Slip stitch to chain 3
Round 5: ch3 DC in same st, DC in next 3 Stitchs, (2 DC in next Stitch, DC in next 3 Stitchs) around, Slip stitch to chain 3
You can add one more increase row for an adult hat
Round 6 to 14 Chain 3 DC in each stitch around join with Slip Stitch, do not end if you plan on ear flaps.
First Ear flap
Row 1 Chain 1 SC in same and next 7 stitches (8 sc)
Row 2 -7 Chain 1 SC in each stitch
Row 8-11 Decrease on each end
Row 12 Decrease and finish off
Second ear Flap
Fold hat with finished ear flap on the bottom left edge
Row 1 Join with a SC in the first Stitch on the top half SC in next 7 stitches
Row 2 -7 Chain 1 SC in each stitch
Row 8-11 Decrease on each end
Row 12 Decrease, Chain 1 SC around edge of hat and both ear flaps, finish off.
Add Braids, I use my 7-inch tablet long ways for the bottom braids length, and short ways for the top but you can find something you like for this part!
