This seamless, 3-dimensional knitted snowflake ornament makes a wonderful gift or ornament and is an intermediate to advanced knitter’s joy.

It requires just 14 grams (47m) of 4-ply Luxury (Bendigo Woolen Mills, Australia) or 21 grams (73m) Hug Me Cactus (Fingering – Cactus Yarn Co, Canada) and is a fun way to bust those pesky leftovers in your stash!

Utilise your skills using either double-pointed needles or magic loop (or a combination of both), cables, popcorn bobbles and Japanese-inspired twisted stitches in this project. Read from the pattern or work from the charts.

The project is worked by casting all the edge stitches onto cable needles using Judy’s magic seamless cast-on method, before transferring half to a holding yarn to be resumed once the first side is completed. Join in the round and work from outside to inside, decreasing each round until only 12 stitches remain; then use a tapestry needle to pull them together to form the snowflake centre.

Begin the second side by picking up the stitches waiting on the holding yarn, work a row with bobbles and then repeat the process to create the reverse side. Before closing the hole, fill with stuffing and insert a hanger, then close up the hole to complete the ornament.
