This gorgeous boho crochet bag gives a modern spin on the granny square by merging crochet with faux leather. It’s such a fun project to learn the technique for crocheting into fabrics like vinyl. With just a little bit of prep work, you can have a designer look that’s sure to turn heads!

Supplies Needed:
-Bernat Home Maker Dec yarn, 100 yds Black and 100 yds Cream (see pattern notes)
-Size E 3.5 mm and size J 6.0 mm hooks (gauge is not imperative for this project)
-1 8 x 24 inch roll of camel-colored vinyl, or enough faux leather vinyl to make 3 8-inch squares (see pattern notes)
-1 roll of Pellon Fusible Midweight Interfacing (you only need enough to cover the 3 8-inch squares)
-Iron, ironing board, and damp cloth (to attach interfacing to vinyl)
-About a half yard of stretchy/jersey knit fabric for lining bag with matching thread
-Fiskar 45 mm rotary cutting blade
-Fiskar 45 mm perforating rotary skip blade
-Cutting mat and quilting ruler
-Approx. 15 20-25 mm wooden beads, or 16-inch premade purse handle of choice
-1.5 inch wooden button
-Piece of cardboard 4 inches wide or tassel maker
-Fray Check (Optional. For tassels)
-Hot glue and glue sticks (Optional. See notes)
-Scissors, yarn needle, tape measure, fabric clips

Gauge is not imperative for this design, as this is based on a concept rather than exact stitches. If you would like to measure close to mine, my finished square prior to sewing the motifs together measures around 11.25 inches.
