Bloemen (’flowers’ in Dutch) never fail to make my mom smile. When she lived in the Netherlands, she would get through the bleak, grey winters looking forward to sightings of the first tulips of spring. Her love for flowers, as strong as ever today, served as inspiration for this little cowl.

The stranded work in Bloemen is simple and choosing colors is great fun. While the Latvian Braid and lining add a little bit of knitting time, they are not difficult. The ribbed version will fly off your needles!

If you choose to line your Bloemen, you’ll have not only the warmth of the stranded fabric, but an extra layer for coziness.

When it seems as though winter will never end and spring will never arrive, knit yourself this colorful little cowl to tide you over until the real blooms appear.

Yardage Requirements:
For the 4 color version, you’ll need approximately 145 yds for the main color and approximately 45, 55, and 60 yds for the contrast colors.
For the 3 color version, you’ll need approximately 145 yds for the main color, approximately 105 yds of one contrast color, and approximately 55 yds of the second contrast color.

The optional lining requires approximately 180 yds.

The color work motif is charted only.
