Gauge is not crucial and can be changed to fit the desired yarn. You may need to adjust the needle size and yardage needed if using a different weight yarn. Your shawl may end up being larger or smaller depending on the weight of the yarn and your individual way of knitting.
Lace-weight wool yarns will be perfect for this knitting project. Lace weight or cobweb weight yarns can be worked single or double-stranded, on 3 mm US 2 – 5mm US 8 needles. And despite its fineness, this lace knitting pattern will keep you very warm!
