Construction:
The bag is worked from the base upward. First, a rectangular base is worked flat in stockinette stitch. Stitches are then picked up around the base, and the body is worked in the round. The stitches are divided to form two openings and two straps, which are then worked separately and shaped flat. The straps are left open so they can be tied into a decorative bow when worn.

Gauge:

Using 5.5 mm (US 9) needles.

Materials:
• 5.5 mm (US 9) circular needles
• Suggested circular length: 60 cm / 24 in
• A longer circular needle may also be used if you prefer working with a magic loop method, especially at the beginning of the body
• 4 stitch markers
• Tapestry needle
• Scissors

Yarn:

This bag is worked by holding two yarns together throughout the entire pattern.

Base yarn:
A sturdy macrame-style yarn, cord, or bag-making yarn.

Decorative yarn:
Any novelty or textured yarn of your choice, such as boucle, tinsel, sequin, eyelash, metallic, or another fancy yarn.

The sample used approx. 160–175 m / 175–190 yd of each yarn, with the two yarns held together throughout.

Yarn weight is not given, as macrame-style yarns and decorative yarns can vary greatly depending on material and construction. When choosing yarns, focus on the final fabric rather than matching an exact yarn weight. The knitted fabric should feel sturdy, firm, and not too stretchy.
