This design is inspired by the multitudes of flowers bursting everywhere during the growing seasons. In keeping with the inspiration, pretty botanical lace motifs are used throughout: a simple floral pattern flows seamlessly into the more elaborate leafy border.

Blostma is a generously-sized shawl worked seamlessly from a center provisional cast on down to both ends using four tonal shades of Aloft. For extra texture and shimmer, optional beads can be placed throughout the lace as charted. The edges are worked with eyelet borders, which are useful for finishing, because blocking wires can be threaded through the yarn overs.

March 3, 2024 - error in Row 79 of the Botanical Border chart and the written directions:
Row 79 is missing the two single decreases at the center of the motif, which should be the same as the center in Row 63, 49, 35, 21, and 7 - the columns of the single decreases continue seamlessly and balance the yarn overs.
