This little top is the perfect addition to a little girl’s spring and summer wardrobe. The colourful stripes are worked using embroidery floss creating so many opportunities for creativity.

The top-down construction of this little top means no seaming! After the completion of a garter stitch neck edging, the coloured stripes are added at irregular intervals. The bodice band is worked in 1 x 1 ribbing edged by purl row(s) and all three embroidery floss colours are used in the hem bind-off to provide an additional touch of colour.

This top is initially worked back and forth on a circular needle to create the back opening; after placing sleeve stitches on waste yarn to be worked later, the work is joined in the round and knit to the hem. Stitches are increased along four lines in the lower portion of the top to provide the A-line silhouette. The back opening is closed with snaps which may be sewn directly onto the knitted fabric or be reinforced by sewing Grosgrain ribbon to the back opening first.
