The georgeous blues and greens from The Border Tart Indigo dyes spoke to me of the sea, so I adapted a wave pattern found in some of my traditional Fair Isle chart books.

This is a scarf or cowl knitted in the round to form a double thickness fabric, joined into a continuous loop using a provisional cast-on and grafting.

Gauge is not crucial but if you use a very different gauge or yarn, yardage needed will also change.

I used 2 x 100g skeins of main colours, plus 12 x 20g mini-skeins.

I used two slightly different main colours, M1 and M2, sorted the gradient dyed mini-skeins in a sequence I liked, and numbered them C1 – C12. Could just as easily be made with two different colours, or as many as you like, repeating ad lib.
